“Magdalena” is a name always associated with a girl with two different identities. One is the real identity and the other one is the disguise. Then, the real identity will be revealed once she got drunk. The drawing of the girl is “Magdalena”. The caterpillars represent the disguised personality and the butterfly represents the real personality once revealed.
Elvira Dulce C. Santos was born and grew up in Gapan, Nueva Ecija. She graduated college in 1986 with a degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts (major in Advertising) at Philippine Women’s University (PWU). One year after graduation, she worked as an artist in an advertising company. In 1994-1995, she worked as contractual designer at the Design Center of the Philippines. She became a bonafide resident of Angono when she got married in year 2002. Her job then was an employee of the corporate world. In 2018, she decided to work fulltime as an “Artist/Designer” to make her creations. Her main goal is to give a new life to the remnants and innovation of found objects. She is currently affiliated to KUTA Artist Group and Lambana: Angono Women Artists Collective. She exhibited her works in selected galleries: Angkla Art Gallery, Kuta ArtSpace, Village Art Gallery, Cevio Art Haus, Art Underground, Espacio Manila, Othello, KDR Studios, Ysobel Art Gallery, Kaida Contemporary Gallery, Angono Art Center, White Walls Gallery, Art Anton and Galerie Stephanie.
