I have been recently enamoured with the ideas of non-place and how they are familiar yet disarming. This painting is a product of my exploration of colour and memory situating myself in places that are eerily familiar but unsettling as well. One particular thing that inspired me was the idea of women in the domestic as in 19th century art, women were always painted within a home or its confines. By taking the idea of the home but erasing its details, it creates an uneasiness within a place of supposed comfort.
