“This piece plays with the idea of how a new year is always a sign of new hope or change, but seeing how the world is today it really isn’t that simple. The piece also uses the pantone 2021 colors, because the contrast of yellow and gray, light and dark are perfect for a pandemic ridden new year. This piece speaks about how even as the new year presents new hope, we must proceed with caution as we have seen a new level of chaos and darkness as the world.”

Carla is a Queer Visual Artist who does freelance art full time, both digital and fine. She was an almost architect, turned magazine editor, turned art intern, until finally taking the leap to dive into the visual arts full time.
